Production Assistant

Bendon is a much loved, iconic New Zealand company with a history dating back 72 years. We are unique in that we design, manufacture and sell our own products including Pleasure State, Heidi Klum Intimates, Fayreform, Lovable, Fredericks of Hollywood and of course Bendon. 

We have recently undertaken a review of our operating model and have made the decision to create one global head office back here in Auckland, New Zealand.  We are now recruiting 30 roles across Merchandise, Planning, Sourcing, Retail Operations and Marketing

The Production Assistant has responsibility for supporting the Production team on the planning and coordination of the production of garments for manufacture by overseas suppliers.  They will support the Production & Development Manager in delivering company production requirements and ensuring that products meet Bendon's quality standards.

Other Key Responsibilities:

Provide the Design team with raw materials and manufacturing cost information during the design process to ensure that collections are designed to standards that are viable for bulk manufacture

Coordinating the timely, accurate and cost-effective production via overseas suppliers of indent and basic product ranges. Provide Timely revised delivery information to the business in the case of any delays or quantity variations.

Planning for ensuing seasons collection by coordinating designer creations to raw material suppliers and garment manufacturers. Work to seasonal timelines across brands to ensure critical dates are met from the budgeting process through to purchase order entry.

Coordinating the manufacture and receipt of sale samples for presentation at sales range reviews and customer showings. Responsible for the ongoing maintenance of a fabric library and raw materials cost sheets.

Other Skills and Experience Sought:

  • Experience in order management
  • Strong Admin skills ideal but not essential
  • Experience within the garment production industry at a manufacturing level essential and an understanding of distribution, logistics, sales and forecasting an advantage
  • Understanding of the production process and critical path
  • Word & Excel intermediate skills
  • Experience in leadership is desirable
  • Knowledge of grading, pattern making, garment construction, and engineering
  • Garment cost analysis including an understanding of currency and duty rates an advantage
